Things To Do Costa Rica

There are numerous things to do Costa Rica. With it's diverse geography the country offers literally hundreds of different types of recreation and leisure activities for both the active adventure type, and also for the less adventurous you to enjoy.

Things Do Costa Rica

Ecotourism and environmentalism thrives in Costa Rica. This offers many opportunities to view sea life and animals in their natural surroundings. Some of the things to do Costa Rica include whale watching, turtle nesting, and bird watching to mention just a few. If you like nature you are bound to see a lot of it here. One enjoyable activity is to get up early and go to the beach to watch the turtles hatch and make their way to the water. You can do this at various locations and times of year so be sure to check out when is your best chance to see the turtle hatchings when the little ones scuttle their way across the beach to the ocean. You can also check into the best time to view the turtle nesting when they lay the eggs.

There are also numerous ocean and water activities from swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving to sea kayaking, boating and deep sea fishing and of course the beaches are beautiful.

Costa Rica Adventures

Further inland you can enjoy river kayaking and white water rafting, as well as mountain biking, trekking and hiking. There are also many first rate golf courses in Costa Rica with more being built all the time as tourism increases.

One of the things to do Costa Rica that is somewhat unique is the canopy tour . Here you get strapped in to a harness that is attached to cables that stretch through the trees in the jungle. Once you clip in you then “zip” along the cables through the jungle tree tops. We did one of these tours near the Ricon de la Veja volcano in the northern part of the country. Zipping through the trees was quite an exhilarating experience. When I was 10 I broke my arm falling from a tree while attempting a similar homemade pulley ride, on the farm where I grew up. So I was most impressed with the attention that the tour operators took with safety. They would always clasp on a second wire before removing the first to ensure there was no chance of any mishaps. We also got to experience a bit of mountain climbing and also a free fall in the river canyon. Great fun, and definitely an experience to try. Here’s a picture of my friend Joe.

Costa Rica’s cultural community is also very active. It is located mostly in San Jose and consists of Literature, Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance programs. Plays are produced mainly in Spanish and although there are also some English language performances. There are numerous active and also many less active things do in Costa Rica.

Many of the vacation / resort developments themselves also provide numerous activities such as golf and tennis along with various beach and ocean sport activities.

Check out the many amenities included in this new luxury resort coming to the new development area in the southern region.
