As prices of developments in the northern region increased, people started looking for a more affordable area. The central pacific region is not only more affordable but will also soon be as accessible as the regions in the north. The central pacific is currently the busiest development area in the country and real estate in this region has appreciated over 100% in the last year alone. As development moved south, the country learned from past mistakes and was more attuned to the need for infrastructure in conjunction with new developments. For example a new four lane highway is currently being built to improve access from the capital of San Jose to the beach areas in the central pacific region.
